Frequently Asked Questions

  • Material inclusion varies by class. In jewellery making Stage 1, materials and equipment are provided. For Stage 2 jewellery, students pay for silver based on weight. The Stacker Rings workshop includes silver in the cost. Sewing classes provide all tools including fabric shears, thread snips, unpicker, hand needles, tape measures, pins, and pressing tools. Candle making kits (valued at $50) are mailed to students for live online classes. Mosaic workshops include all ceramic or metal bases and tesserae. Check individual class descriptions for specific material coverage.

  • Course lengths vary significantly. Sewing Basics is a 3-week course with nine hours of hands-on tuition. Jewellery Introduction stages are five-week courses with 3.5 hours per week. The Slow Clay Beginners Wheel course runs for 8 weeks. Intensive courses are shorter: knife-making is a weekend course, blacksmith introduction is 2 days, and ring-making workshops are single-day classes of 3-6 hours. The Beginner & Beyond Sewing Course offers flexible 5 or 10-week options.

  • Yes. A 10% discount applies to multiple workshop bookings for one student, bookings between siblings within the same school holiday period, and bookings with friends on the same workshop. The discount code MULTIPLE10 is applied at the final checkout screen. Additionally, the Beginner & Beyond Sewing Course offers a $50 savings when booking the full term rather than individual weeks.

  • Jewellery courses teach specific techniques at each stage. Stage 1 covers sawing, soldering, filing, basic gem setting, shaping with punches, and polishing. Students make a cabochon gem-set silver ring and samples, with all materials provided. Advanced stages (4-9) cost $513 per stage plus a $30 consumable charge, with students designing projects and discussing fabrication with instructors. Single-day ring workshops teach roller printing, soldering, finishing, and patination techniques.

  • Private sewing lessons are offered at $199 for 3 hours. To book, email details about what you want to learn or your project, along with your available days and times. All sewing tools are provided. Weekends have longer wait times due to higher demand. Custom private arrangements may be available for other craft disciplines—contact individual studios for details.

  • Pottery classes span multiple levels. The Wheel Throwing Beginners Taster is a 2.5-hour introduction where participants create 2-6 pieces. The Slow Clay Beginners Wheel is an 8-week foundational course. The 2-Day Pottery Wheel Intensive teaches the Slow Clay Method™, an ergonomic approach to wheel throwing. Studio Access Times (SATs) are available for weekly wheel and hand-building students only. Returning students can access 2-hour sessions at $39. Intro to Ceramics is a 4-session course covering throwing, hand-building, and glazing.
